Getting a flurry of happy-happy emails, like this:
Hi Mike: I just took a look at your list of favorite country songs and think you are right on with your choices. I'd certainly listen to a station that played music from your list.
I went off to college in Springfield, MO in August of 1981 having hardly ever listened to country music. When I arrived in Springfield, the only rock and roll on the radio was a sort of top 40 station (Hits 99 or something) and it was not very good. Most of the time instead of a DJ, the station used a computerized voice announcing the song titles/artist in between songs.
I went looking for something better and found it on the leading local station which just happened to play country music. The station had better DJs, news, weather, sports and played a lot of variety. I heard John Conlee (or was it you!), Earl Thomas Conley, John Anderson, The Kendalls, Hank Williams Sr and Jr, Ricky Skaggs, The Whites... I was quickly hooked for life....
By the way, the heck with the websites critics - Don't change a thing. Keep the pictures of the dogs, bullets and whatever else you want.
Hang in there....
