In the late 1970's/early 1980's I worked with one of the guys who put together the original Fantasy Park at Gordon Mclendon's FM station in Dallas. Mitch Craig (currently a successful voice talent based in Memphis) and other station air talents actually put the weekend special together on the fly, using whatever live material was available and studio tracks enhanced with crowd sounds and other sfx played from tape cartridges. Each of the DJ's spent their regular weekend airshift "emceeing" segments of the greatest concert that never was.
