Connie Szerszen finally wrote the book ...

From Tom Taylor:

Connie Szerszen – a.k.a. Chicago’s “Top Rock Girly Jock” – has written her autobiography, and it’s 352 pages of stories and pictures that re-create the intersection of the radio scene and rock & roll.

Connie dishes about Elvis, her date with Neil Diamond, and hanging out with stars from Elton John to Stevie Nicks.

Connie says she was “the first female rock jock on AM radio in Chicago" and later “the first female in America to broadcast live on HD Radio”, in 2005. She packs a lot into the autobiography (plus 200 pictures), and you can find out more about the Starbright Publishing book here.

I worked around Chicago for a few years, and always listened to Connie whenever I could.  She and Yvonne Daniels were always the role models I pointed female employees towards when they wanted guidance within their gender.

Steampunk MP3 recorder ...

Play those LP's you've had tucked away in the garage in this thingie and make them over into those all-new MP3 digital files.

Crosley offers several versions of this device that will record 45's, 33's, 78's and cassettes directly to digital formats.

Prices for the various versions of this device range from under a hundred bucks to $350, and the capabilities range from copying to an SD card to directly to your computer.

Connection is by USB. Thanks to Larry Shannon's Radio Daily News for the tip to this product line.

If you're an OldDog and you've got a bunch of old airchecks lying about on cassette, spend a few hundred simoleons to get one of these guys, record them to CD and send copies to us here, if you were involved in STLRadio, for posting here as a reference to your talent.

We'll make them available here to make you a star all over again!
