Here's your way in!
The country of Zimbabwe, which has long had state-controlled media, may open up for some commercial radio. A very limited amount of it, says VOA News. But it would be the first crack in the wall for a regime that’s controlled all the local radio and TV for decades. The Mugabe government did license some independent daily newspapers a few years ago, and it’s been feeling pressure from the Southern African Development Authority to open up the radio dial, as well. It actually ran an ad in the state-run Herald paper, asking for applications for two potential new commercial radio licenses. Will it follow through?
