KTRS/AM550 value plummets ...

In 1997 Tim Dorsey and his investors in CHHoldings paid a reported $10million to EZ Communications for the KSD signal, renamed the station KTRS and were off and stumbling their way to what now may very well be the denouement of the station's fourteen year odyssey.

Many of the industry vets with whom I've discussed this presume that this is just the first step in the eventual sale of the station.  Is this Tim Dorsey's Doomsday weapon?

In a month-old document received confidentially Monday by STLMedia, industry advisors BIA/Kelsey have officially valued KTRS at just one-third of its original purchase price...about $3.5million.  That number apparently includes the transmitter site in Illinois as part of the assets.
