It's both the heat and the humidity ...

When it gets into the 90's and the humidity's over 70% I gotta stay inside with the AC.  My COPD demands it. It's like breathing through a wet towel otherwise.  Did the grocery shopping late last night.  Cooking a beef roast in the slow cooker, rice in the rice cooker, and steamed veggies in the microwave, none of which throw off much heat.  Leftovers rule!
