From Tom Taylor:
At $43.2 million last year, is CBS boss Les Moonves overpaid by Sumner Redstone, or paid just right? A Bloomberg story last week focused on the analysis of veteran compensation specialist Graef Crystal. Using his own formula, he figures Moonves should be closer to $15 million for his total 2009 compensation than the $43 million-plus change he got with the blessing of controlling shareholder Sumner Redstone.
Sorry, but I know a herd of CBS employees who earn a lot less than 1/1000th of this simpleton's salary. They're the guys who do the heavy lifting and make the CBS stock worth what it is. Moonves should be closer to a maybe early seven-figure salary. No bonuses. I could see an annual salary to Les of, maybe, 3mil.
Paying tens of millions to marginally talented senior salespeople for bad management but good press is unconscionable and immoral.
And I'm a Conservative!
