Roku review ...

Ordered a Roku SD for $80 from Amazon and it arrived Tuesday.  Needed help from son Jason to move furniture around so the install waited until Thursday afternoon.

Thursday PM: I opened the  Amazon box and tucked the Roku into the second shelf of the AV cabinet, running the supplied cables to the TV and power source.  Using the living room laptop, I signed the Roku device on to the local network and registered it with Roku and then Netflix.  Also registered it with my already-subscribed Pandora music service. Sounds great in my movie speakers!

Time elapsed, about five minutes.

I removed stand-alone DVD and VHS players from the AV cabinet and replaced them with a DVD/VHS combo that records DVD's from VHS tapes.  I plugged in appropriate cables and checked for video signals on each channel.  Conversion process from VHS-to-DVD has begun, to be completed later.  Time elapsed, about two minutes.

Good to go.

Total time elapsed for the project, about 7 minutes.  Net gain, about 12,000 movies and classic TV episodes at the cost of a $10/month Netflix subscription. And Pandora is free.

Movies from Amazon may cost extra.
