Mark, of course, is the esteemed Program Director of CBS' KYKY and KEZK.
His One Big Trick, beyond offending major corporate promotional partners, is to play Christmas Music on KEZK months ahead of The Holiday. The first few times, it made a difference in the Winter Arbitron and Mark looked like a genius. These days, not so much.
Now, Edwards is tossing the station's format over to an online resource and playing Christmas music on the air, and soon as he can. Clear Channel's 100.3 beat KEZK to the punch, and, honestly, they're doing a helluva job at it.
When a couple or three stations do the Christmas music thing only one can take the trophy. PPM is a whole new competition and only KEZK cares about the outcome. 100.3 and anybody else doing Christmas music are doing it as a throwaway prior to a new format.
