Award-winning Top 40 and Country PD Dene Hallam has passed away at the age of 58.
Dene had slipped into a coma caused by an undisclosed illness late last week and died Friday evening.
I didn't know Hallam, but I certainly knew of him. He was most prominent in the Country format in the 1980's, when I was programming that format in Richmond and his stations were among those that we "junior PD's" listened to most to learn more about our craft. He'd been out of the radio programming arena for the better part of a decade.
