Late last week, I had a number of conversations with radio DJ's, Program Directors, Programming Consultants, Corporate Radio Executives and Engineers, all of whom expressed their concern that Arbitron is aware of and is attempting to cover up significant flaws in their PPM ratings system.
I'm still assembling my notes from these chats and this week I will present some conclusions based on what I've heard.
Quick analysis: Arbitron put PPM in the field way before it was ready and way before it was thoroughly vetted as a primary research methodology. What I've discovered is not good news for clients of this radio ratings behemoth.
