Torn between two markets ...

It's almost unheard of in contemporary radio history that a radio personality manages to get to the top of the heap in two major markets, especially in the coveted morning slot.

Dr. Don Rose owned mornings in Philadelphia from 1968 to 1973 on WFIL and when his call to fame came (with a little help from then-WIBG PD Jerry DelColliano to his former mentor Paul Drew), Rose settled into a sweet thirteen-year run at KFRC in San Francisco.

Dr. Don owned the wakeups in the City by the Bay for more than a decade.

This aircheck is from Dr. Don's last show at WFIL in Fall of 1973.  It was recorded through a Sylvania clock radio into a Wollensak reel-to-reel recorder.  You can almost hear the tubes surrendering.  Sorry for the quality.
