Most every community has a website ...

... and most every community pays way too much for it.  There are a large number of commercial companies that provide formatted community websites, including links to legal and penal info, all of which seem to be interconnected.

Community websites should be free to their providers and access to same should be free to their users, with no charges for bandwidth useage and access, and that's not just me saying "information needs to be free."

Additionally, every community should have an available audio stream.  Most do not.  Every community in the US, or at least every group of contiguous communities, should have a freely addressable IP address that provides community info, construction and road news, weather and emergency news via stream and RSS, all accessible on the internet and smartphones.  The sites should also include regular comment and updates from governing officials.

It wouldn't be cost prohibitive to create such a network.

So why has it not yet happened?
