My first radio gig after the Army ...

... was at WMID Atlantic City, where I had family roots going back four generations. That was in 1971 and the station was Contemporary/Top 40. The PD was Gary Lane, the MD was Walt Cooper and both had airshifts, Gary on PM drive and Walt in middays. Walt also worked weekends at WFIL/Philadelphia as Bobby Mitchell. I did news and jock work on weekends and commercial production during the week.
The Google image above shows the detuned TV station WMID tower, with radials deep in the mud of the salt water bay. Such conductivity enabled the Class IV AM at 1340 to get response from listeners across the Atlantic. The Google photo was apparently taken after an FM antenna was added by an owner after Merv Griffin sold it.
