Grammy's stay on CBS thru 2021 ...

From the NYT:

After Strong Ratings, Grammys Stay With CBS

After two years of improved ratings and a sharp uptick in advertising rates, the Grammy Awards show will extend its agreement with CBS by 10 years.

The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization that presents the Grammys, announced on Tuesday that it had signed a deal to keep the awards at CBS through 2021. The Grammys have been shown on CBS since 1973.

In 2010, after several years of sluggish ratings, the Grammys attracted 25.87 million viewers, a 35 percent increase from 2009, according to Nielsen; this year the show had its best ratings in 10 years, with 26.67 million viewers. The turnaround has also helped the show’s advertising rates. According to data from Nielsen, the cost of a 30-second commercial on the 2011 awards was $621,000, up 46 percent from the year before, when it cost $426,000. In 2009 the price of a 30-second ad had dipped below $500,000 for the first time in a decade.

The 54th annual awards ceremony will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on Feb. 12, 2012, and the nominations will be announced in a prime-time special on CBS on Nov. 30.
