Terrible times with CableAmerica ...

CableAmerica is a relatively tiny cable and internet access company, serving subscribers in small markets in Missouri and Michigan.  I've been a subscriber to their cable services for almost twenty years, sticking with them because I had no interest in going with Charter, once the premier cable service in my community.

Charter once tried a few years back to throw their weight around and take over my market's service; hundreds of subscribers showed up waving their lists of grievances, the horrors of Charter service, etc.  Charter lost and we continued to have multiple cable providers.

For almost a year, I've been having issues with CableAmerica service, blackouts telling me that my signal was weak, and annoying pixellation, on both digital cable box and direct-in antenna.  So I finally called for help.

They sent me two guys.  One of them, Chris, told me that it was because of sunspots and he had a corporate memo saying so.  Anyone who has any knowledge of science or astronomy knows that 2009 was the end of the most recent sunspot cycle, with almost none at all, and none whatsoever in 2010.  Next year, as predicted, the cycle will begin again.

I told Chris he was wrong about sunspots and he exploded.  Chris was almost a foot taller than me, and, in my living room, walked into me to show me how wrong I was and then left, explosively.  I was very ready to defend myself using my licensed Castle Doctrine authority.  I was that afraid but I restrained myself.

The other tech, Terrence, changed out a splitter.  It may work, but I've still got some pixellation.  I know it's not the new TV's, because the issues do not occur using Roku or watching a DVD.

I later talked with CA CE Scott and let him know what went on.  I understand the twice-a-year obstruction issues (base-sat-sun obstruction), but I don't understand why they would let a loose cannon like Chris into a subscriber's home with bad information and a seriously bad attitude.

If Chris had attacked me inside my home, as he seemed to be prepared to do, Chris would have been grievously injured. I hope that CableAmerica fires him.
