Goodbye RTV Channel 13...

WPXS 13 Mount Vernon, IL/St. Louis has dropped the RTV Retro Television Network in favor of the Daystar Christian television network, a Charismatic focused network headed by Marcus & Joni Lamb, who are much like the Jim & Tammy Faye of the 2010s.

The main question is what took so long? The station has been owned by Word of God Fellowship of Texas since 2005, which is the Lamb's Ministry, but has carried the RTV Retro Television Network featuring vintage classic programs like Jack Benny, "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," and "Leave it to Beaver."

In their place are popular Christian programs from Preachers such as the Lambs, Joel Osteen, Bishop T.D. Jakes, and St. Louis' own Joyce Meyer.

Daystar had been airing locally on a LPTV station, KDTL Channel 64, however, since the station is low powered, it does not have the FCC Must Carry status requiring all Cable and Satellite operators to carry Channel 13.

While WPXS is licensed to Mount Vernon, IL, the station's transmission facility is located near St. Rose Township in Clinton County, IL in the St. Louis DMA, giving WPXS a unique must-carry status in two different markets - St. Louis, and Paducah/Carbondale/Cape Girardeau due to the fact that the station's City of License is in that market.
