Schnucks groceries have been dropping video rentals ...

...for the past year or so.  My local store finally cleaned out the corner where they rented movies to replace it with a bank branch and have replaced the service with an NCR Blockbuster Express vending machine in the entryway, even though there's a full-scale Blockbuster directly across the street..

So where do the vendors like RedBox and NCR get their movies?  Turns out, they buy them at retail.  And now retailers like WalMart and Target are setting up restrictions on the number of copies of new releases you can buy.

This will be sure to drive movie distribution entirely online, and quickly.  Netflix is already there.
